Spilt urad dal - 1 tsp

Method
Soak tamarind in a cup of water for 15-20 mins. Squeeze well and take the extract.
Peel, wash and chop onions. Wash and chop tomatoes. Wash and slit green chilies.
Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard. When it starts spluttering, add split urad dal, jeera, curry leaves and green chillies. Sauté for few seconds and then add chopped onions.
Sauté for a min and then add tomatoes.
Add the tamarind extract, sambar powder, salt to taste and jaggery. Mix well and let it boil well for 10 mins.
Serve the gothsu hot with hot Pongal / idli/ dosa:)
Interesting recipe! Not sure if I've tried this before. I do eat Indian cuisine quite often here but I never know the names of those gravies or soups that I'd tried. I'm sure this tastes dynamite :)
